Anthropic launches Claude Academy, free AI literacy platform
In brief
- Anthropic launched Claude Academy, a free platform offering courses and tutorials on AI safety and effective use.
- The curriculum teaches users to recognize AI mistakes, verify outputs by risk level, and determine appropriate AI task deployment.
- Users earn badges, track progress, and receive personalized course recommendations via a dedicated Claude Academy Skill.
Curriculum Built on Internal Training Methods
Claude Academy's curriculum draws from the same approach Anthropic uses to train its own employees, including the 4D AI Fluency Framework. The company teaches users to recognize common AI mistakes and review generated work based on the level of risk involved. Rather than focusing on specific product features that can quickly become outdated, the platform emphasizes broader principles that remain relevant as models improve.
The curriculum encourages users to decide intentionally which tasks should be handled by AI and which should remain with humans. Anthropic also includes guidance on verifying AI output based on the stakes involved and disclosing AI use when producing documents, analysis or media. This approach aims to build responsible AI literacy across diverse use cases.
Learning Tools and Personalization
Courses include exercises that allow users to practice with Claude while learning. Users can receive recommended courses based on their interests and completed learning, track course progress and earn badges. Anthropic also released a Claude Academy Skill that can recommend courses and learning paths based on how a user works.
Claude Academy is available starting Thursday through academy.claude.com and through the Learn more section of the Claude profile menu. Anthropic plans to expand the platform with more personalized and interactive learning experiences over time.
