Biggest weekly drain since June 2023
The last time Binance saw a week like this was June 2023, when its BTC balance dropped by 44,942 in a single week. CryptoQuant said Binance's reserves have fallen by nearly 40,000 BTC since Sept. 20, and it sees similar conditions behind both withdrawal runs.
The analytics firm reads the outflows as accumulation.
"The more BTC leaves a widely accessible platform like Binance, the stronger the signal that accumulation is taking place. Withdrawing BTC from an exchange is a longer-term investment behavior, and therefore a positive signal," CryptoQuant wrote in a blog post.
In June 2023, BTC/USD climbed from $26,300 to $30,500 in the weekly candle that followed the Binance outflows (setting new 12-month highs at the time). That's history, not a forecast for today's market.
A tight range below the yearly open
Price hasn't broken out yet. BTC/USD has traded between $82,500 and $87,400 since Sept. 21, and Cointelegraph reported that walls of exchange liquidity have dictated low-timeframe moves during that stretch, with the 2026 yearly open at $87,570 acting as overhead resistance.
Whales bring stablecoins back to Binance
Stablecoin flows tell the other half of the story. Between Aug. 15 and the end of September, whale entities lifted their rolling 30-day stablecoin inflows to Binance by 40%, from $21.7 billion to $30.5 billion, per CryptoQuant. It's a sharp rebound, but it's still well short of the October peak, when those inflows exceeded $61 billion (a stretch that coincided with crypto markets' all-time highs in October 2025).
Stablecoin supply on exchanges is generally considered "dry powder" waiting for deployment into crypto assets. By that reading, rising balances suggest interest in adding exposure.
