BingX, YouHodler join ESMA's MiCA register as CASP total reaches 375
In brief
- ESMA's MiCA register added nine CASPs, bringing the total to 375 unique providers.
- BingX's Austrian entity and YouHodler's Italian subsidiary were among the additions.
- Openbank Deutschland, a Santander subsidiary, and two German cooperative lenders also joined.
- Denmark's Penning no longer appears on the register but says its authorization is unchanged.
- Non-compliant CASP register grew by five entries to 178.
Who made the list
ESMA's update included MEGE zweite, BingX's Austrian entity. It also listed YouHodler's Italian subsidiary with authorization for custody, crypto exchanges, order execution and transfers (Cointelegraph describes YouHodler as a crypto lending platform that offers yield products).
Neither listing was a surprise. Both firms announced their authorizations the week before the register caught up. BingX EU CEO Daniel Lai said the approval would let the company operate under a clear regulatory framework as it prepared to launch regulated services across the European Economic Area.
The other additions weren't all exchanges and yield apps. Spain's Prakma Markets (associated with the Goin crypto app, which runs a savings and investment platform) was added. Germany's additions included Openbank Deutschland, a subsidiary of Banco Santander, alongside cooperative lenders VR-Bank Alb-Blau-Donau and VR Bank im südlichen Franken.
At least three of the nine additions came from Germany.
Penning drops off the register
Denmark's Penning Financial Services no longer appears on the register, according to Cointelegraph, even though it had shown up in register updates going back to July 3. A Penning spokesperson told Cointelegraph its MiCA authorization remains unchanged and said the company hadn't received any communication about changes from Denmark's financial regulator.
Cointelegraph said it contacted ESMA and Denmark's Financial Supervisory Authority for clarification and hadn't heard back by publication. So there's no official explanation yet for why the entry is gone.
The other MiCA registers
The token registers didn't move. ESMA's e-money token (EMT) register held at 50 entries representing 25 unique entities, while the asset-referenced token (ART) register stayed empty, per Cointelegraph's reading of the registers.
The list of non-compliant crypto-asset service providers (NCASPs) did change. It grew by five entries to 178 in the same update.
