In brief

  • Bitcoin ETFs posted $225.2 million in net outflows Thursday, snapping a seven-session inflow streak.
  • BlackRock's IBIT shed $202.5 million, accounting for most category outflows.
  • Bitcoin dipped to $64,600 as U.S. stocks fell amid U.S.-Iran military tensions.
  • Bitcoin ETF funds closed $274 million higher for the five-session period despite Thursday's pullback.
  • Ethereum funds added $26.3 million, extending their inflow streak to five days.

BlackRock's IBIT Leads the Exit

BlackRock's IBIT shed $202.5 million, accounting for most of the category's outflows. The fund, the largest in the spot Bitcoin ETF space, bore the brunt of Thursday's selloff. Fidelity's FBTC, Bitwise's BITB, ARK 21Shares' ARKB, Franklin Templeton's EZBC, and WisdomTree's BTCW all posted smaller losses, while Morgan Stanley's MSBT was the lone holdout, adding $5 million.

The outflow snapped what had been a strong run. The streak had pulled in close to $1 billion across seven consecutive sessions—a bullish signal that followed eight brutal weeks that drained more than $8.2 billion from the same funds.

Bitcoin Dips, Fear Spikes

Bitcoin briefly slipped under the psychologically important $65,000 mark, touching $64,600. The move coincided with weakness in equities. U.S. stocks fell Thursday as the ongoing U.S.-Iran military exchange, now well into its fifth month, kept oil prices elevated.

Sentiment deteriorated sharply. The Crypto Fear & Greed Index dropped three points to 28, a reading that signals extreme fear in the market.

Week Still Closes in the Green

Despite Thursday's pullback, the broader picture remained positive. The funds still closed roughly $274 million higher for the five sessions through Thursday, showing net inflows for the week overall.

Ethereum funds bucked the trend entirely. Ethereum funds shrugged off Thursday's mood, adding $26.3 million and extending their streak to five days, suggesting some capital rotation toward the second-largest blockchain asset.
