In brief

  • US spot Bitcoin ETFs posted $635 million in net outflows Thursday, per SoSoValue data.
  • October flows for the funds now show $175 million in net outflows.
  • Thursday's outflow was the largest single-day outflow since June 25's $696 million.
  • Ether ETFs lost about $111 million, while XRP ETFs drew roughly $3.6 million in inflows.

Biggest daily outflow since June

Thursday's figure was the largest single-day net outflow since June 25, when Bitcoin ETFs lost $696 million, based on Cointelegraph's reading of SoSoValue data. That's a sharp reversal. The three-day inflow streak it ended had pulled in $1.08 billion, and one session of withdrawals was enough to flip October's net flows from positive to negative.

The weekly numbers don't look as bad. Bitcoin ETFs still had weekly net inflows of $443 million, according to the same SoSoValue figures (and that rebound came after the funds had recorded two consecutive weeks of outflows).

October, though, is back in the red.

Where BTC traded

Bitcoin traded between $80,996 and $82,551 on Thursday, down from Wednesday's intraday high of $84,777. At the time of Cointelegraph's publication, BTC was trading at approximately $81,783, down around 1% over 24 hours, according to CoinGecko data cited by the outlet. It's a modest move next to the size of the ETF outflow, but the price was sliding from Wednesday's high all the same.

Altcoin ETFs mostly negative

Bitcoin wasn't alone. Altcoin ETFs also saw mostly negative flows on Thursday, according to Cointelegraph's reading of SoSoValue data.

Ether ETFs recorded around $111 million in net outflows, the largest of the group. Solana ETFs followed with roughly $9 million in net outflows, while Hyperliquid (HYPE) ETFs shed about $8 million.

XRP was the exception. XRP ETFs went against the trend on Thursday, attracting around $3.6 million in inflows, a small figure next to the outflows elsewhere but the only green number in the day's altcoin ETF data.
