In brief

  • US spot Bitcoin ETFs drew $526.6 million in net inflows on October 19, per Crypto Briefing.
  • BlackRock's IBIT took in $665.2 million, the only Bitcoin ETF with positive flows.
  • Fidelity's FBTC lost $83.6 million and Grayscale's GBTC lost $54.9 million.
  • Ethereum spot ETFs posted $103.3 million in net outflows, led by BlackRock's ETHA.
  • Spot Bitcoin ETFs' October net outflow narrowed to approximately $90 million.

IBIT carried the whole day

The net number actually understates how lopsided the flows were. IBIT took in $665.2 million (more than the entire net figure), and it was the only Bitcoin ETF to record positive flows that day, Crypto Briefing reported. Fidelity's FBTC saw $83.6 million leave the fund. Grayscale's GBTC lost $54.9 million.

That's a familiar pattern for GBTC. Crypto Briefing noted the Grayscale fund has historically faced redemptions as investors moved to cheaper alternatives, and it wrote that IBIT absorbing more than the full net inflow while rivals bled reinforces BlackRock's position as the default choice for new Bitcoin ETF money.

Trading volume across all spot Bitcoin ETFs reached $2.09 billion on the day. Total net assets held by the funds stood at $105.46 billion as of October 19, which Crypto Briefing put at approximately 6.4% of Bitcoin's overall market capitalization.

October's deficit narrows

The funds had logged a series of outflows earlier in the month. According to Crypto Briefing, the October 19 inflow helped narrow October's monthly net outflow to approximately $90 million.

The month isn't back in positive territory yet.

Zoom out and the picture looks different, though. Since launching in January 2024, spot Bitcoin ETFs have gathered cumulative net inflows of $57.40 billion, per the report.

Ethereum and Solana funds bleed

Ether products went the other way. Ethereum spot ETFs recorded $103.3 million in net outflows on October 19, extending a multi-day streak of redemptions, and BlackRock's ETHA accounted for $95.4 million of that total.

So BlackRock sat on both sides of the tape. Its Bitcoin fund drew the day's largest inflow, while its Ethereum fund led the ether redemptions.

Solana spot ETFs also saw net outflows on the day. Crypto Briefing didn't give a figure for them, and it's the only flow number in the report that's missing.
