Bitcoin's $200,000 odds sit at 2% on Kalshi as traders trim rally bets
In brief
- Kalshi priced its $200,000 Bitcoin contract for January 1, 2027, at 2% in October 2026.
- Polymarket odds for the same milestone fell from about 4% to a range of under 1% to 2%.
- Bitcoin, trading near $82,000 to $84,000, would need to more than double to reach $200,000.
- Lower strikes carried higher odds: 63% for $90,000 and 28% for $100,000.
- Related Polymarket contracts drew more than $74 million in total volume, Crypto Briefing reported.
What the contracts are pricing
Those numbers are implied market probabilities (what traders are paying for a "yes" outcome), not forecasts. Crypto Briefing said the contracts settle against the CF Bitcoin Real-Time Index, a benchmark price feed for Bitcoin.
The gap is wide.
Bitcoin traded near $82,000 to $84,000 at the start of October, per Crypto Briefing, so it'd need to more than double by year-end to clear $200,000.
Crypto Briefing called the 2% reading a record low for those contracts. That label deserves a caveat, though. The same report notes that data from September already showed the $200,000 contract priced at 2%, which suggests expectations had cooled before October rather than collapsing this month.
Odds further down the ladder
Lower strikes look very different. According to Crypto Briefing's read of the market data, contracts on Bitcoin hitting $90,000 carried a 63% implied probability, while the $100,000 contract sat at 28% odds. Contracts covering the $150,000 to $190,000 range traded in the single digits.
There's real money behind these markets. Total volume across the related Polymarket contracts exceeded $74 million, the outlet reported, so these prices aren't coming from a handful of small bets.
Trimming, not panic
So how did the $200,000 odds get this low? Crypto Briefing said Polymarket's decline from around 4% showed traders steadily trimming their bets on an aggressive rally rather than panic-selling out of them.
The picture from the order books, then, is one of traders slowly marking down the odds on a far-out strike while still paying meaningful prices for $90,000 and, to a lesser extent, $100,000. Neither platform's figures amount to a price target, and they don't say where Bitcoin will finish 2026. They show what traders on Kalshi and Polymarket were willing to pay for each outcome as of October.
