Bitcoin Suisse relocates half of Swiss jobs to Bratislava, Vietnam
In brief
- Bitcoin Suisse relocates up to 60 of 120 Swiss positions to Bratislava and Vietnam
- Back-office and administrative functions move abroad for cost efficiency
- CEO Andrej Majcen frames restructuring as global expansion, not market response
- Company secured licenses in Liechtenstein, Bermuda, and Abu Dhabi in 2026
Shift to Lower-Cost Hubs
The affected functions are expected to move to lower-cost hubs in Bratislava and Vietnam, where Bitcoin Suisse plans to establish operational centers. CEO Andrej Majcen said cost was a key factor in the move, telling Finews that operating the affected services in the two countries would be significantly less expensive.
Majcen framed the restructuring as a strategic decision. Majcen added that the restructuring was not a response to weakness in the crypto market, but part of Bitcoin Suisse's strategy to expand internationally and build a broader wealth and asset management business.
Expansion Beyond Switzerland
Bitcoin Suisse provides crypto trading, custody, staking and lending services. The company's international push has accelerated this year. In June, the company said it was expanding beyond its Swiss market, targeting institutional clients, family offices, asset managers and high-net-worth individuals.
That expansion has translated into regulatory wins. Bitcoin Suisse also secured licenses in Liechtenstein and Bermuda earlier this year, while its Middle East subsidiary received full regulatory approval in Abu Dhabi in July. The job relocation fits into this broader strategy to build a global footprint while managing costs in higher-expense jurisdictions like Switzerland.
