Talks with BlackRock

Bitget CEO Gracy Chen said the exchange has been in close communication with BlackRock about distribution in Asia, including tokenized exchange-traded funds. BlackRock, which oversees $11.6 trillion in client assets, did not comment on specific expansion plans. However, the asset manager confirmed that its ETPs are already available in Asia and said it regularly engages with virtual asset service providers.

BlackRock has been building its digital-asset presence in Asia, including through a Singapore-based role focused on regional strategy. The conversations with Bitget reflect a broader shift toward institutional adoption of tokenized products in the region.

User overlap and market opportunity

More than half of Bitget's users also hold traditional stocks, according to company data. This overlap positions the exchange as a potential bridge between crypto-native traders and institutional wealth managers seeking exposure to digital assets. Asian crypto activity is expanding rapidly, creating a natural market for products that combine traditional and digital asset management.

The talks underscore how major financial institutions are moving beyond skepticism toward active engagement with crypto platforms. For Bitget, a partnership or distribution agreement with BlackRock could significantly accelerate its footprint in institutional markets across Asia.
