  • Charles Schwab disclosed $4.8M in XRP ETF collateral via SEC Form N-MFP3 on September 8

  • Filing signals institutional adoption of XRP-linked exchange-traded funds among major asset managers

Schwab's XRP ETF Collateral Disclosure

Charles Schwab Family of Funds filed a Form N-MFP3 with the SEC on September 8 disclosing XRP ETF collateral positions. The filing breaks down into three separate holdings: the Grayscale position at approximately $1.01 million, the Canary position at $3.06 million, and the Franklin position at roughly $702,000. These three reported positions combine to nearly $4.8 million worth of XRP ETF shares being used as collateral.

It's important to understand what Form N-MFP3 disclosures actually mean. Form N-MFP3 disclosures can identify securities posted as collateral rather than necessarily indicating purchase. The filing shows that XRP ETF shares entered institutional collateral arrangements, not that Schwab bought them outright.

Broader Institutional Adoption

The Schwab filing isn't isolated. Multiple investment firms have reported XRP ETF exposure across regulatory filings. Clear Creek Financial Management disclosed 11,621 shares of the Bitwise XRP ETF for the quarter ending June 30. Leisure Capital Management reported 16,745 shares of the Franklin XRP ETF in its second-quarter Form 13F. These positions remain relatively modest for large asset managers, but their appearance across multiple filings shows that XRP ETFs are gaining more traction.

The timing matters. XRP token was down 60% from its record high at the time of reporting, yet institutional interest in XRP-linked products continued to surface in regulatory filings.
