Index performance
The CoinDesk 20 Index advanced 0.5% to 1682.86, with Aave gaining 5.9% and Internet Computer rising 2%. Fifteen of twenty assets in the index traded higher, signaling broad positive momentum. The gainers reflected strength in decentralized finance and computing-focused protocols.

Broader market trends
Exchange volumes painted a more cautious picture. Combined exchange volumes fell 3.45% in May to $4.41 trillion, marking the lowest level since September 2024. This decline reflects softer trading activity across major platforms.
One bright spot emerged in real-world assets. RWA perpetual futures volumes rose 10.4% in May, hitting a new all-time high, signaling growing institutional interest in tokenized traditional assets despite broader market softness.
