CoreWeave signs 240 MW AdaniConneX deal for its first India data center
In brief
- CoreWeave will use 240 MW of capacity at AdaniConneX's Taloja facility in Navi Mumbai.
- The deal, announced October 7, is CoreWeave's first data center project in India.
- An option lets the commitment scale to 480 MW; the first site is targeted for mid-2028.
- Reported investment runs to several billion dollars; the spending split wasn't disclosed.
What the deal covers
The headline number is 240 MW. That's the capacity CoreWeave has committed to at the Taloja campus, which sits in Navi Mumbai (the planned satellite city across the harbor from Mumbai). The agreement also carries an option to scale the commitment to 480 MW, according to the October 7 announcement.
Timing is further out. The first data center under the partnership is expected to come online by mid-2028, the companies said.
On cost, Crypto Briefing reported that the arrangement is a multi-year partnership projected to involve investments worth several billion dollars. Who's paying for what hasn't been disclosed, and no specific dollar figure was given for either side's share.
Who's on the other side
AdaniConneX isn't a single company. It's a joint venture between India's Adani Group and EdgeConneX, a data center developer.
The venture says it aims to develop a total of 3 GW of data center capacity in India by 2030 (a stated target, not capacity that exists today). On paper, CoreWeave's initial 240 MW works out to about 8% of that goal, or roughly 16% if the 480 MW option is exercised.
A first step into India
CoreWeave trades on Nasdaq under the ticker CRWV. Until now, its growth has largely been concentrated in the United States, where it's secured large-scale leases across various locations to host AI workloads, per Crypto Briefing's report.
India is new ground.
The Taloja agreement doesn't change that picture overnight (the first facility isn't due until mid-2028), but it gives CoreWeave its first committed data center capacity in the country, with a contractual path to double it.
