In brief

  • Fluidstack closed $830M Series A at $7.5B valuation, led by Situational Awareness
  • Company converts former crypto mining sites into AI data centers for Anthropic, Meta, and other labs
  • Partnership with Anthropic includes $50 billion infrastructure build across Texas, New York, and US locations
  • Fluidstack delivers computing capacity in six months versus 18-24 months for traditional providers
  • Company plans to hire hundreds of employees during expansion

Rapid Capacity Deployment

Fluidstack's core advantage centers on speed. The company claims its technology can deliver gigawatts of capacity within six months, compared with the 18 to 24 months typically required by the industry. This acceleration matters. AI labs racing to scale training and inference workloads can't wait two years for new infrastructure to come online.

The company acquires power, designs and constructs data centers, and operates the computing infrastructure used by AI labs. Its website lists Anthropic, Meta, Nvidia, AMI and Cognition among companies connected to its infrastructure platform.

Anthropic Partnership and US Expansion

Fluidstack's largest announced project is its partnership with Anthropic, which selected the company to help build $50 billion of computing infrastructure across the United States. The initial facilities are being developed in Texas and New York, with additional locations planned.

Anthropic expects the Fluidstack sites to begin coming online throughout 2026. The company projects the program will create around 800 permanent jobs and 2,400 construction jobs. That employment scale underscores the capital intensity of the AI infrastructure buildout.

Scaling Operations

Fluidstack said it plans to hire hundreds of employees across software, hardware, power, design and data center operations as it expands. The funding will support this hiring push and accelerate site acquisition and buildout.

Reports in April indicated Fluidstack was discussing a separate $1 billion funding round that could value the company at approximately $18 billion, with Jane Street reportedly considering leading that financing alongside Situational Awareness. The company has not announced that transaction to date.

The shift from crypto mining to AI infrastructure reflects broader capital reallocation in the energy-intensive computing space. Former Bitcoin mining sites have the power infrastructure and real estate already in place, making them natural candidates for AI data center conversion.
