In brief

  • Franklin Templeton's Benji Technology Platform integrates with MoonPay Trade for institutional stablecoin-to-yield swaps onchain.
  • Tokenized money market funds distribute yield based on precise holding periods, eliminating traditional end-of-day settlement requirements.
  • Franklin Templeton manages $1.74 trillion in assets and launched Franklin Crypto in April.

The integration: 24/7 market access

Franklin Templeton's Benji Technology Platform now connects directly with MoonPay Trade, enabling institutional clients to move capital between stablecoins and yield-generating tokenized products without leaving the blockchain. The workflow operates around the clock, sidestepping the 9-to-5 trading windows that constrain traditional finance.

Sandy Kaul, Franklin Templeton's head of innovation and digital assets, highlighted the advantage in a statement: "We trade 24/7 in the crypto markets. Unlike traditional money market funds, which typically require investors to hold positions through the end of a trading day to receive interest, tokenized funds can distribute yield based on the precise period an investor holds the asset."

Tokenized funds and real-world assets

Tokenized money market funds differ structurally from their traditional counterparts. Because they live onchain, they can credit interest intraday rather than bundling payouts into daily settlements. An investor who holds for six hours receives proportional yield; one who holds for 23 hours receives proportional yield. This granular accrual is impossible in legacy infrastructure.

The partnership reflects MoonPay's expansion beyond crypto trading and payments into tokenized real-world assets. MoonPay, historically known for fiat-to-crypto onramps, is repositioning itself as infrastructure for institutional digital-asset workflows.

Franklin Templeton's crypto push

Franklin Templeton, which manages $1.74 trillion in assets, announced plans in April to launch Franklin Crypto, a dedicated cryptocurrency division anchored by the acquisition of crypto investment firm 250 Digital. The new unit will focus on active crypto investment strategies, while Franklin Templeton continues building tokenized versions of traditional financial products.

This partnership sits at the intersection of both mandates: it deploys tokenized products (the legacy-finance angle) through crypto rails (the active digital-strategy angle). Institutions get yield. Franklin Templeton gets assets under management. MoonPay gets enterprise traction.
