Google opens UAE ads to licensed crypto exchanges and wallets from Oct. 21
In brief
- Google will allow UAE-targeted ads for crypto exchanges and software wallets from Oct. 21, 2026.
- UAE licenses from the CMA, DFSA, FSRA or VARA are required for advertisers.
- Google certification and compliance with local laws are also required.
- CFD and forex ads need a CMA, DFSA or FSRA license plus Google certification.
- Google says it will give at least seven days' warning before suspending accounts.
Four regulators, one certification
The change falls under Google's updated Financial Products and Services rules, which clarify licensing requirements following regulatory changes in the UAE, according to Crypto Briefing.
To qualify, an exchange or software wallet provider has to hold a license from one of four authorities: the Capital Markets Authority (CMA), the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA), the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) or the Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA). Advertisers must also be certified by Google and comply with local laws.
A license on its own isn't enough.
A shorter list for CFDs and forex
The policy is stricter for complex speculative financial products. Ads for products like CFDs and rolling spot forex will be permitted in the UAE only if the advertiser is licensed by the CMA, DFSA or FSRA and holds Google certification (advertisers also have to comply with applicable UAE regulations). VARA isn't on that second list. That leaves three regulators that can license CFD and forex advertisers, compared with four for crypto exchanges and wallets.
Crypto Briefing reported that the revised policy will apply worldwide to all accounts advertising these products. Google isn't taking on advertisers' legal obligations, either. According to the report, advertisers are still responsible for following the laws of each market they target, whether or not they've cleared Google's certification.
Seven days' notice before a suspension
Google also said it'll give at least seven days' warning before suspending an account for policy violations, rather than suspending it immediately. For any advertiser going through the new certification process, a violation won't lead straight to an immediate suspension.
So what changes on Oct. 21? Crypto exchanges and software wallets can run UAE-targeted ads, as long as they hold one of the four licenses, have Google certification and comply with local laws.
