India defeats Pakistan 13-9 in Esports Nations Cup Asia Qualifier
In brief
- India defeated Pakistan 13-9 in Valorant at the ENC Asia Qualifier on June 27
- Pakistan eliminated from tournament; India advances toward November main event in Riyadh
- Esports Nations Cup is a national-team competition organized by The Esports Foundation
- 111 rosters submitted across all regions for the inaugural 2026 tournament
The Asia Qualifier Format
The Asia Qualifier format is built around best-of-1 matches, meaning every round carries elimination-level stakes. Teams competing in the qualifier face no second chances until the upper and lower bracket finals, which shift to a best-of-3 format. This structure creates a compressed, high-pressure environment where a single poor performance can end a nation's tournament run.
For countries like India and Pakistan, this qualifier represented their primary route to Riyadh. Sixteen nations received direct invites to the main event based on prior competitive rankings, with the cutoff for those invitations set at June 7, 2026. Teams outside that tier had to compete in regional qualifiers to earn their spots.
The Inaugural Esports Nations Cup
The Esports Nations Cup 2026 is the first edition of what The Esports Foundation hopes will become a recurring flagship competition. The event features Valorant as its title game and operates as a national-team competition, a format that differs from the franchise and individual-roster tournaments that dominate the esports calendar.
A total of 111 rosters were submitted across all regions for the ENC. The main event is scheduled for November 2-29 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, bringing together the strongest national teams from around the world. India's win over Pakistan positions the Indian roster closer to that stage, while Pakistan will need to regroup or compete in lower-bracket matches if the format permits further play.
