  • Kraken secured Official Crypto Exchange Supporter status for FIFA World Cup 2026
  • Tournament runs June 11–July 19 with 48 teams across Canada, Mexico, and United States
  • Kraken plans countdown concerts and fan-focused product experiences during competition

Tournament Scale and Reach

The 2026 World Cup will be the first to feature 48 teams and 104 matches, spanning 16 host cities across Canada, Mexico, and the United States. The tournament runs from June 11 through July 19. The expanded format and geography amplify the sponsorship's reach across North America and Europe.

Kraken's Planned Activations

Kraken's FIFA collaborations begin Wednesday with a multi-country, multi-city countdown concert on the eve of the opening match. Beyond that event, the exchange plans "fan-focused product experiences" across North America and Europe throughout the tournament.

Kraken co-CEO Arjun Sethi framed the partnership in terms of shared global reach. "Football has always crossed borders," he said. "So does crypto."

Kraken's Sports Portfolio

The San Francisco-based exchange, which was founded in 2011 and operates in more than 190 countries, already maintains sports sponsorship deals with Tottenham Hotspur, Atlético de Madrid, RB Leipzig, and the Atlassian Williams Racing Formula 1 team. The FIFA partnership extends that portfolio into the world's largest sporting event.

Regulatory Context

Law enforcement agencies have warned soccer fans of crypto scams that may target people looking to purchase World Cup tickets or merchandise. The warning underscores ongoing tensions between crypto adoption and fraud prevention in mainstream sports sponsorships.

FIFA announced a separate deal in April with ADI Predictstreet, making it the official prediction market platform of the tournament.
