Funding structure
Strategy funded this acquisition through its USD Reserve, which increased by $100 million to $1.1 billion via the sale of common stock. During the same week, the company raised $209 million by selling about 1.73 million MSTR shares through its at-the-market program.
The USD Reserve was set aside in December 2025 to cover dividends on preferred shares and interest on debt. By drawing down this reserve to fund bitcoin purchases, Strategy demonstrates its approach to managing both growth and obligations. The company is funding both its bitcoin accumulation and its corporate liabilities through equity issuance rather than liquidating its core holdings.
