Building the war chest
Michael Saylor, executive chairman of the firm, said Monday that Strategy now holds a U.S. dollar reserve of $3.225 billion alongside its 843,775 BTC stash. The company sold over 2.7 million MSTR shares for roughly $263.5 million through its at-the-market equity program, with roughly $225 million flowing into cash reserves after transaction costs.
This marks the second consecutive week MicroStrategy has prioritized cash accumulation over bitcoin purchases. The strategy reflects a shift in priorities — the firm is rebuilding its liquidity cushion after its increasingly complex financing model and dividend-paying preferred stock structure came under pressure during recent market volatility.
Monetization program in motion
Earlier this month, MicroStrategy disclosed the sale of approximately $216 million worth of bitcoin, part of a broader effort to generate cash without liquidating the core treasury. The company approved a new bitcoin monetization program that included selling up to $1.25 billion of its BTC stash, giving Saylor's team flexibility to manage both bitcoin and equity positions.
At bitcoin's current price of $64,700, MicroStrategy's 843,775 BTC treasury is worth nearly $55 billion. Even with the recent bitcoin sales, the firm's core position remains intact — a signal that Saylor views the current holdings as strategic rather than tactical.
