Morpho cbXRP market had 8.84M USDC of debt within 10% of liquidation
In brief
- About 8.84M USDC of debt would become liquidatable after a further 10% oracle drop, per CryptoSlate.
- 462 positions carrying about 3.23M USDC would sit at the boundary after a 5% drop.
- The market's 62.5% liquidation LTV threshold is fixed, and its oracle is Chainlink-based.
- Collateral seizures and any native-XRP sales would require separate transactions, the report said.
What the snapshot shows
At 13:24 UTC, the market carried about 59.2 million USDC of total debt against roughly 119.9 million cbXRP in collateral. Debt in the 10% stress bucket was about 15% of that borrowing (the affected positions held about 12.73 million cbXRP). A smaller 5% drop would've put 462 positions, carrying about 3.23 million USDC, at or past the liquidation boundary, CryptoSlate reported.
The market's parameters, as CryptoSlate reported them, fix the liquidation loan-to-value threshold at 62.5%. Its oracle uses Chainlink's XRP/USD feed with a fixed 1:1 USDC leg, and it showed a ratio of about 1.1843 USDC per cbXRP.
How a position crosses the line
Take a hypothetical borrower at 60% LTV. A 10% fall in the oracle price (with debt and collateral unchanged) lifts that to about 66.7%, past the threshold. Repaying 10% of the debt would restore the original 60% at the lower price, and adding about 11.1% more collateral would do the same, excluding interest, fees and further price moves.
Borrowers aren't stuck waiting. The market interface recorded repayments and collateral additions around 13:14-13:16 UTC on Nov. 6, and Coinbase's interface to Morpho on Base offers optional automatic collateral protection that adds assets after a configured trigger.
"The 5% group sits inside the 10% group. Repayments or added collateral can change the outcome."
Why native XRP isn't the story
Coinbase describes cbXRP as a wrapped token backed 1:1 by native XRP held in its custody. That link doesn't run the way some readers might assume. Holders can post existing XRP positions as collateral, so rising loan balances alone didn't create new XRP purchases, according to the report.
These are scenarios, not forecasts.
The figures only establish conditional eligibility. Actual seizures, and any later native-XRP sales, would require separate transactions, and borrower actions could change the exposed balance before prices reach either level. CryptoSlate pulled the data through a public GraphQL POST across three pages of 500, 500 and 70 positions.
Frequently asked questions
How would a 10% price drop push a cbXRP loan on Morpho past its liquidation threshold?
The market's liquidation loan-to-value threshold is fixed at 62.5%. In CryptoSlate's hypothetical example, a position at 60% LTV rises to about 66.7% after a 10% oracle price fall, with debt and collateral unchanged. Repaying 10% of the debt or adding about 11.1% more collateral would restore 60% LTV, excluding interest, fees and further price moves.
Would liquidations in the Morpho cbXRP market force sales of native XRP?
Not automatically. CryptoSlate said its fixed-position scenarios establish conditional eligibility only. Actual seizures and any later native-XRP sales would require separate transactions, and borrower repayments or added collateral could change the exposed balance before prices reach either scenario.
