Nvidia's Jensen Huang says chipmaker put $8 billion to work in Europe in 2025
In brief
- Jensen Huang said Nvidia put $8 billion to work in Europe in 2025, per Crypto Briefing.
- Nvidia joined 14 European startup funding rounds in 2025, up from 7 in 2024.
- Mistral AI, Nscale and an undisclosed Revolut stake are among the reported deals.
- Crypto Briefing's report doesn't say how much of the $8 billion was Nvidia's own money.
- LeoDex News couldn't independently verify the figures.
What the $8 billion actually covers
This isn't a new commitment. The $8 billion figure refers to money deployed over the course of last year, and Crypto Briefing describes it as the total invested across those European ventures, at approximately $8 billion. What the report doesn't say is how much of that came from Nvidia's own balance sheet and how much is just the size of the rounds it joined.
That distinction matters.
Look at Mistral AI. Nvidia participated in the French company's €1.7 billion Series C round in September 2025, which valued Mistral at €11.7 billion. That €1.7 billion was the whole round, and Crypto Briefing doesn't break out Nvidia's portion. The same month, Huang announced a £500 million investment in Nscale, a UK-based data center provider. In November 2025, Nvidia acquired an undisclosed stake in Revolut, which carries a $75 billion valuation.
So the three named deals don't add up to a clean, Nvidia-only total. Readers should treat the $8 billion as Huang's headline number, not an audited figure.
Huang's case for physical AI in Europe
Huang has pointed to what he sees as opportunities in Europe for AI that operates in the physical world (robotics, factories and industrial automation), citing the region's industrial base. He's also acknowledged that Europe needs expanded energy infrastructure to support those technologies. It's a fair caveat, since compute without power doesn't go far.
Nvidia also plans to deploy thousands of Blackwell GPUs in Europe to expand the region's AI capabilities, per the report. Crypto Briefing also cited unnamed research describing GPU deployment projects in France, the UK and Germany, but it didn't identify where that research came from, and LeoDex News hasn't confirmed those projects.
The number to watch is the round count. Going from 7 European startup rounds in 2024 to 14 in 2025 means Nvidia doubled how often it wrote into the region in a single year, with Mistral AI, Nscale and Revolut among the names. Whether the dollar figure holds up is a separate question, and Nvidia hasn't published a breakdown that we could find.
