In brief

  • Spritehood NFT collection sold out in under an hour on Robinhood Chain Tuesday
  • 44,444-piece collection generated approximately $1.28 million in proceeds via onchain analysis
  • Villemain's independent project follows his 2022 removal from Pudgy Penguins

Rapid Sellout and Pricing Structure

Villemain announced the start of the mint early on August 11, and the collection moved quickly. The breakdown was specific: 37,430 NFTs sold at $17 each, while 5,526 were minted for $117 through an upgrade option. An additional 1,488 NFTs were issued at no cost before the paid mint began.

Earlier social media estimates had circulated closer to $755,000 to $775,000, but those figures were calculated before the mint concluded. The final tally from independent onchain analysis proved higher.

Building on Robinhood Chain

Villemain had been previewing the Spritehood project for several weeks ahead of launch. In July, he stated his ambition for the collection's trajectory on the emerging blockchain platform.

The speed of the sellout underscores the appetite for NFT projects on Robinhood Chain, a newer ecosystem competing for creator attention. Villemain's move represents a significant bet on the platform's potential to host major collections outside the traditional Ethereum and Solana dominated landscape.

His return to NFT launches comes years after his departure from Pudgy Penguins, the project that initially brought him prominence in the space. The Spritehood success demonstrates that creator reputation and community support can drive momentum even in a crowded market.
