In brief

  • Robinhood's average daily crypto volume rose 24% in September versus August, per Crypto Briefing.
  • Crypto Briefing's report gives no source or full-month total for the September figure.
  • August crypto volume reached $17.5B, up 61% from July's $10.9B.
  • August 2026 volume remained 38% below August 2025's $28.1B.
  • Robinhood Chain activity is excluded from the 24% figure.

Where the 24% figure comes from

Crypto Briefing reported the 24% increase in daily crypto volume but didn't say where the September number came from. That matters. The August figures it cites are complete-month dollar totals (the kind of notional volume Robinhood reports in its operating metrics), while the September figure shows up only as a month-over-month rate with no dollar amount attached.

Using August as the base, the publication estimated Robinhood would be tracking above $700M per day if the 24% increase held for all of September. That's Crypto Briefing's projection, not a reported figure.

Until there's a full-month number, it's an estimate.

Two months of growth, still below 2025

September marked the second consecutive month of meaningful growth for Robinhood's crypto desk. August volume rose 61% over July, to $17.5B from $10.9B, which works out to roughly $565M in average daily trading volume.

The rebound hasn't closed last year's gap, though. Robinhood's August 2026 crypto volume was 38% lower than August 2025, when traders pushed $28.1B through the platform, and the publication said volumes remain well below last year's highs.

The August mix is worth a look too. Bitstamp, the exchange Robinhood acquired, contributed $10.1B of the total, and the Robinhood app itself accounted for $7.4B (so more than half of August's volume came through Bitstamp rather than the retail app).

Robinhood Chain sits outside the count

Robinhood Chain, the company's proprietary blockchain that launched in July, was generating more than $1.5B in daily decentralized exchange activity as of early September, per the report. It didn't say how that on-chain figure was measured either. Those on-chain numbers are counted separately from the notional volumes Robinhood reports in its operating metrics, and the 24% increase doesn't include what's happening on Robinhood Chain.

On the wider platform, Robinhood had 28.6 million funded customers as of August. Total platform assets were close to $384B, up 26% year-over-year.
