Saudi-led coalition says it intercepted Houthi drone, Crypto Briefing reports
In brief
- Saudi-led coalition reported intercepting and neutralizing a drone launched by Yemen's Houthi movement.
- Makkah region: coalition air defenses reportedly acted over this area of Saudi Arabia, per the coalition's account.
- Houthi representatives, unnamed, denied targeting Saudi territory, Crypto Briefing reported.
- LeoDex News couldn't review the original coalition statement.
What the coalition reported
The interception claim comes from the coalition itself. Crypto Briefing reported that the Saudi-led coalition said it had successfully intercepted and neutralized the drone (the claim is the coalition's own, passed along by the outlet).
The location is attributed too. According to the coalition's account, its air defenses acted over the Makkah region of Saudi Arabia. That detail is reported, not verified, and LeoDex News hasn't been able to check it against a primary coalition statement.
Who's involved
The coalition backs Yemen's internationally recognized government. On the other side are the Iran-aligned Houthis, who control parts of Yemen, including Sanaa, according to the report.
The Houthi response
Houthi representatives, who weren't named in the report, denied targeting Saudi territory, Crypto Briefing said. They said their focus was on military and energy infrastructure.
It's a denial, and it doesn't come with a counter-account. The report doesn't say what, if anything, the drone was aimed at.
The only account LeoDex News has reviewed is the coalition's, as relayed by Crypto Briefing; the claim hasn't been independently verified.
