In brief

  • Shibburn data showed 297.68 million SHIB burned in 24 hours, a 6,847.52% rate increase.
  • One 297,572,672 SHIB transaction accounted for nearly the entire daily total.
  • U.Today's report doesn't identify who sent the large burn or why.
  • Seven-day burns reached 394.28 million SHIB; the 30-day total hit 666.97 million.
  • SHIB traded at $0.000005893, down 0.95% on the day, per U.Today.

One transaction, most of the total

The 24-hour burn figure from Shibburn rests almost entirely on one transfer.

That's the whole story behind the spike.

U.Today's report doesn't say who sent the 297.57 million SHIB or why they did it. It also listed smaller burns: 111,542 SHIB from Uniswap, 2,622,378 SHIB from Coinbase and 179,289 SHIB from Robinhood. Add those to the single large transaction and you get more than the reported 297.68 million total, so the figures in the report don't fully reconcile.

"Shibburn reports 297.68 million SHIB burned, which is an increase of 6,847.52% in burn rate."

Weekly and monthly totals

The same data shows 394.28 million SHIB burned over the last seven days, which pushed the weekly burn rate up 1,821.15%. Over 30 days the total came to 666.97 million SHIB.

U.Today separately reported that SHIB went live on Solana via Sunrise and is available in Solana apps including Jupiter, Raydium, Phantom and Kamino (which lets the token trade directly inside Solana's defi ecosystem). The outlet didn't point to a formal announcement behind the launch.

Price and the macro backdrop

SHIB itself barely moved. At the time of U.Today's writing, the token was down 0.95% over 24 hours at $0.000005893, though it was up 2.09% for the week.

U.Today also reported SHIB's first daily golden cross in almost two years. The previous one, according to the outlet, came in November 2024.

Broader crypto trading was mixed early Tuesday, with investors waiting on minutes from the Federal Reserve's September FOMC meeting, scheduled for release on Wednesday. Traders priced in a 78% chance that the Fed would keep rates unchanged at its next meeting, U.Today reported.
