Shiba Inu Warns of Fake Token Migration Scams on Shibarium

Four Scrabble tiles forming the word 'SCAM' on a neutral background, highlighting concepts like deceit.

In brief

  • Fake migration scams circulate in Shiba Inu Telegram channels, impersonating official developers
  • Mazrael identified fraudulent migration claims spreading across community groups
  • No active migration underway; users must verify official channels only
  • LEASH v2 migration planned to fix contract flaw, launch date pending

The Scam Details

Mazrael, a longtime Shiba Inu community member and Shiba Eternity game advisor, stated that scammers have been promoting fake migration information through Telegram channels. An account identified as 'someonesmart' has been at the center of the operation, promoting a Telegram group connected to fake migration claims.

The fraudulent account posted Telegram group details across multiple official channels. It shared the scam group link in both the Shibarium Telegram group and the Bone ShibaSwap Telegram group, attempting to gain credibility by infiltrating legitimate community spaces. Mazrael clarified that the 'someonesmart' account has nothing to do with ShibaSwap or Shibarium.

What's Actually Happening

No migration is taking place right now. Users who hold BONE on Shibarium or other legitimate tokens should not be persuaded to swap their holdings for alleged replacement tokens based on false migration claims.

However, a real change is coming. A LEASH v2 migration is anticipated following the discovery of a hidden flaw in the original LEASH code that undermined its fixed-supply design. The original contract included a rebase mechanism that could alter supply under certain conditions, even after developers claimed the keys had been burned.

The v2 solution addresses this vulnerability. Developers stated that the v2 contract cannot mint new tokens under any circumstances and that the full supply of v2 has already been minted into a multisignature wallet. During migration, v1 tokens will be locked or burned while v2 tokens will be released from the multisig in proportion to each holder's entitlement.

Timing remains unclear. No official date has been announced for the LEASH v2 migration.

How to Stay Safe

Shiba Inu users are urged to use legitimate tokens in the ecosystem, including SHIB, BONE, LEASH, and TREAT, as well as official channels. Verify any migration announcements through official Shiba Inu social accounts and the core team's direct communications before moving assets.
