Shibarium's 74% Transaction Surge Fails to Lift SHIB Price
In brief
- Shibarium's daily transactions surged 74% from 661 to 1,151 on July 22.
- SHIB declined 1.54% in 24 hours to $0.000004166 despite blockchain activity.
- Large-cap crypto volumes hit weakest levels in two years since July 2024.
Activity Surge Meets Market Headwinds
Shibarium saw a 74% increase in transactions between July 21 and 22, marking a notable uptick for the blockchain. The wider Shiba Inu ecosystem, however, was quiet during the surge. SHIB itself couldn't capitalize on the on-chain momentum.
SHIB was down 1.54% in the last 24 hours to $0.000004166 at the time of reporting. Over seven days, the token gained just 0.51%. The month-long picture is worse: Shiba Inu is down 23% so far in July after failing to surpass $0.0000043.
Broader Crypto Malaise
The disconnect between on-chain activity and price action reflects a wider market slowdown. Santiment noted that large cap crypto volumes have been consistently fading since July 2024, with trading activity now sitting near its weakest average levels in two years.
The reason? Trader behavior has shifted. Many have stopped rotating aggressively after repeated sell-offs, weaker spot demand, and lower confidence in altcoin follow-through. When conviction fades, volume dries up—and social energy usually follows.
For Shibarium, the 74% transaction jump signals on-chain engagement. But it's not enough to move the needle when the market as a whole is risk-off. SHIB bulls will need more than blockchain activity to reignite momentum.
