In brief

  • Spot Bitcoin ETFs drew roughly $301 million in net weekly inflows, per Decrypt's tracker.
  • Outflows on Thursday and Friday totaled about $773.5 million, including $137.9 million on Friday.
  • October spot Bitcoin ETF flows remain negative, down about $314 million.
  • Bitcoin fell 1.1% to about $80,490 on Saturday, according to CoinGecko.

A strong start, then two days of exits

The week opened strong. Spot Bitcoin funds pulled in $1.07 billion from Monday through Wednesday, and midweek they'd briefly turned positive for October.

That didn't last.

Thursday's $635.6 million outflow was the largest of the month, and it pushed the funds back into the red. Friday's $137.9 million exit brought the two-day total to about $773.5 million, per Decrypt's tracker. The funds are now down about $314 million for October (a month that's typically good for Bitcoin holders, seasonally speaking). Cumulative net inflows stand at $57.6 billion since the funds debuted in January 2024, with $100.2 billion in total net assets.

Ethereum and Solana funds lag too

Ethereum ETFs took in $4.4 million on Friday but lost about $221 million on the week, leaving them down roughly $1.18 billion for October. Solana ETFs had no net flows Friday after $8.9 million in Thursday outflows, and they're down about $68 million for the month.

Why do people watch these numbers so closely? Issuers report flows daily, and much of the money comes from institutions and financial advisers, so the figures get treated as a gauge of investor sentiment. (Spot ETFs hold the underlying asset and trade on stock exchanges, which gives investors exposure through a regular brokerage account.)

Prices slip as prediction market traders turn bearish

Bitcoin fell 1.1% over 24 hours to about $80,490 on Saturday and was down 1.2% on the week, according to CoinGecko data cited by Decrypt. Ethereum fell 2.6% to roughly $2,344, Solana dropped 2.8% to about $101, and total crypto market cap slipped 1.2% to $2.79 trillion. The price weakness followed a midweek selloff in global markets, when oil rose above $111 a barrel and AI stocks fell.

Traders on Myriad, a prediction market built by Decrypt's parent company Dastan, have grown more bearish on how Bitcoin finishes October. They gave it a 43% chance of dropping to $77,500 before month's end (up from 32% a day earlier) and an 18% chance of falling to $75,000. The odds of Bitcoin topping $87,500 fell to 10% from 17%.

Those odds show what traders think. They aren't a forecast.
