In brief

  • TrueMoney partners with Fireblocks to embed THBT wallet, testing blockchain adoption in mainstream payments.
  • THBT is a Thai baht-pegged digital value unit under Bank of Thailand's Enhanced Regulatory Sandbox.
  • Pilot expands to 20,000 Thai and international participants; users convert THBT to baht across TrueMoney network.
  • Embedded wallet removes need for users to manage seed phrases or private keys directly.

The Partnership and Pilot Scope

TrueMoney partnered with Fireblocks to integrate THBT wallet functionality into its platform. TrueMoney is operated by Ascend Money and serves as Thailand's largest e-wallet provider, with roughly 27 to 32 million registered users in the country. The company accounts for about half of Thailand's e-wallet market.

THBT is a Thai baht-referenced digital value unit being tested under the Bank of Thailand's Enhanced Regulatory Sandbox. The pilot is being expanded to as many as 20,000 Thai and international participants, including foreign visitors and expatriates. This scale signals serious intent to move beyond laboratory testing into real-world usage patterns.

How It Works

The embedded wallet approach addresses a key barrier to mainstream blockchain adoption: the friction of managing cryptographic credentials. The project is testing whether consumers can use blockchain-based payment tools without dealing directly with seed phrases or private keys. Instead, users interact with a familiar e-wallet interface where Fireblocks handles the underlying custody infrastructure.

Users can spend THBT on digital coupons or convert it into Thai baht for transactions across the TrueMoney network. The second phase of the THBT pilot incorporates assisted recovery for users who lose their credentials, reducing the risk of permanent fund loss—a major pain point for self-custody models.

Fireblocks' Track Record

Fireblocks' infrastructure has supported more than $16 trillion in digital asset transfers and serves more than 750 million end users globally. The firm's technology enables institutions and platforms to custody digital assets securely while maintaining the abstraction layer that makes blockchain feel like traditional finance to end users.

Ascend Bit, a TrueMoney partner, is also participating in the Thai Securities and Exchange Commission's Digital Asset Regulatory Sandbox, reinforcing the ecosystem's commitment to compliance-first innovation in Thailand's crypto and digital asset space.
