In brief

  • $2.12M in XRP liquidations over 24 hours
  • Long positions wiped out $1.99M versus $127K in shorts
  • XRP trades $1.06–$1.10 range, down 0.26% to $1.09

Liquidation Cascade Targets Leveraged Longs

Over the past 24 hours, total XRP-related liquidations reached $2.12 million, with long positions accounting for $1.99 million of the total. Short liquidations, meanwhile, totaled $127,430. The imbalance tells a clear story: traders who borrowed capital to amplify bullish bets on XRP faced the brunt of recent price pressure.

The three-day decline has pushed XRP toward approximately $1.09, while the token is down 0.26% over the past 24 hours. It's not a crash. But it's enough to trigger cascading liquidations on leveraged positions.

Market Metrics and Leverage Risk

XRP is currently trading within a relatively narrow $1.06 to $1.10 range. Trading volume has fallen 26.59% to $785.29 million, and its market capitalization has declined 0.15% to approximately $68.2 billion. Lower volume compounds the risk for leveraged traders—fewer buyers to absorb sell orders means tighter liquidity and sharper moves.

The imbalance suggests that leveraged traders betting on further XRP gains have absorbed most of the recent losses. This pattern is common in crypto markets: when bullish sentiment is high, retail and professional traders pile into long positions with borrowed capital. A modest drawdown then triggers a cascade as liquidation engines force-sell underwater positions.

During the past 12 hours, total liquidations reached $257,760, including $169,790 in long positions and $87,970 in short. The ratio remains skewed toward long liquidations even in the shorter window, reinforcing the pattern.

Adoption vs. Token Demand

Worth noting: some market observers argue that growing adoption of Ripple's infrastructure does not necessarily create direct demand for XRP. Ripple's latest initiative, Ripple Mint, a platform designed to give institutions a unified way to access, mint, redeem and manage Ripple's RLUSD stablecoin, was announced on Wednesday. With RLUSD's market capitalization reaching approximately $1.5 billion, institutional interest in Ripple's rails is real. But whether that translates to XRP price support remains an open question for traders holding leveraged positions.
