XRP Liquidations Hit $10.88M as 980% Imbalance Crushes Longs
In brief
- XRP liquidations hit $10.88M with 980% imbalance favoring shorts over longs
- Long positions accounted for $10.88M of $11.99M total XRP liquidations
- XRP dropped 3.82% in 24 hours, retreating from $1.62 to $1.47 low
- Crypto market extended weekend selloff with top-ten assets down 2–7%
Liquidation Pressure Mounts
XRP experienced a 980% liquidation imbalance as the broader crypto market extended a selloff from the weekend. $10.88 million out of a total $11.99 million in liquidations came from long positions, according to CoinGlass data, leaving short traders relatively unscathed with $1.11 million in liquidations.
The scale of long liquidations underscores how aggressively bullish traders had positioned themselves ahead of the move. Most were caught off guard when the market turned.
A total of $378 million in crypto liquidations occurred across the market, with XRP bearing a disproportionate share of the pain. Major cryptocurrencies in the top ten are down 2% to 7%, reflecting the depth of the selloff. XRP, however, is up just 0.18% in the last seven days, suggesting weakness relative to the broader recovery narrative.
Upcoming Catalyst Events
Despite the near-term price pressure, XRP's roadmap remains active. The XRP Ledger is preparing for key updates in October including Batch, fixBatchV1_2, and permissions delegation. Batch and fixBatchV1_2 are scheduled to activate on mainnet on October 9, while permissions delegation is set to launch on October 8, 2026, if support remains above 80%.
The ecosystem also has two marquee events lined up. XRP Seoul will be held on October 3, 2026, at the Grand Hyatt Seoul as part of Korea Blockchain Week. Later in the month, Ripple Swell is scheduled for October 27–29, 2026, which typically attracts institutional and developer interest.
