In brief

  • Anthropic announced a $150 million, three-year AI research commitment, per Crypto Briefing.
  • Claude AI models would be made available to more than 15 US federal agencies.
  • Crypto Briefing named the initiative the Genesis Mission, citing NASA, NIH and NSF.
  • The commitment extends Anthropic's federal work beyond the Department of Energy and national labs.

What Anthropic committed

The headline number is $150 million, spread across three years. According to Crypto Briefing's report, Anthropic said the money would go toward two things: supporting AI research and making its Claude AI models available to more than 15 federal agencies. Research funding and model access aren't the same thing, and the announcement covers both.

Crypto Briefing identified the program as the Genesis Mission and said it's meant to advance technological discovery and scientific research across US government entities. It named NASA, NIH and NSF among them.

LeoDex News hasn't seen Anthropic's original announcement, so the $150 million figure, the three-year timeline and the 15-plus agency count are all as Crypto Briefing reported them.

Beyond the Department of Energy

The scope is the notable part. Per the report, the commitment expands Anthropic's collaboration with federal bodies beyond the Department of Energy and the national laboratories, pulling science agencies (NASA, NIH and NSF) into the picture too. Put simply, Anthropic's government work now reaches past energy and the national labs, at least on paper.

This commitment marks a deepening of Anthropic’s partnership with federal bodies

That's how Crypto Briefing characterized it.

Where Anthropic stands

Anthropic is privately held. Crypto Briefing put its last confirmed valuation at $965 billion as of May 2026, following a Series H funding round, and described Amazon and Google as strategic partners of the company.

The publication also cited speculation that a potential IPO could value Anthropic at close to $2 trillion. It's unconfirmed, and Crypto Briefing labeled it that way.

The federal commitment itself, as reported, is a much smaller number than either of those: $150 million for research and Claude access across more than 15 agencies over the next three years.
