Anthropic targets more than 3.5 GW of compute by end of 2026, report says
In brief
- Anthropic expects more than 3.5 GW of compute online by end-2026, per Crypto Briefing.

- Anthropic is moving from Nvidia GPUs toward Google TPUs and Amazon Trainium, Crypto Briefing says.
The commitments behind the build-out
It doesn't stop at 2026. Crypto Briefing reported that Anthropic plans to roughly double its footprint again in 2027, targeting about 9.5 to 10 GW by the end of that year. The outlet pointed to a deal involving Google and Broadcom that covers approximately 3.5 GW of TPU capacity starting in 2027. It also cited an arrangement with Amazon Web Services for up to 5 GW of its Trainium chips.
The financial side of the plan is large. In an amended S-1 filing dated November 2, 2026, Anthropic disclosed $895.4 billion in non-cancelable purchase commitments and lease agreements, mostly tied to compute and infrastructure projects, Crypto Briefing reported. The outlet said that total reflects commitments as of late September 2026, and it estimated another $150-175 billion in further arrangements on top of it.

Revenue up, losses bigger
According to Crypto Briefing's account of the S-1, Anthropic reported Q3 2026 revenue of nearly $17 billion, up from $11.56 billion in the previous quarter. Its net loss for the same period was $23.3 billion.
Crypto Briefing argued that a quarterly loss that size, set against commitments of this scale, leaves little margin for error if AI demand cools or a rival offers comparable models more cheaply. That's the outlet's read on the risk, not ours.
Moving past Nvidia
The hardware mix is changing too. Crypto Briefing said Anthropic is moving away from relying on Nvidia GPUs and toward custom silicon such as Google's TPUs and Amazon's Trainium. The company is also seeking smaller data center sites alongside its large deals, the outlet reported.
The investor list is part of the story. Anthropic has drawn investment from Amazon, Google and Microsoft, and Crypto Briefing noted that several of those backers are also the cloud providers selling it compute (so the investment relationships double as supply chains).
