In brief

  • Ark's ARKW fund bought 35,403 Circle shares worth $2.9 million, per Crypto Briefing.
  • Earlier 2026 Circle buys by Ark included $5.5 million in May and $17.3 million in August.
  • A separate 65,615-share Ark buy followed a 7.1% one-day drop to about $79.84.
  • Ark trimmed roughly $15.9 million from its ARKB Bitcoin ETF around that time.

A position built in pieces

Crypto Briefing's report doesn't cite Ark's daily trade file, so these are the outlet's figures. This also isn't Ark's first Circle buy this year. Ark made multiple Circle purchases during 2026, the outlet said, including a $5.5 million purchase in May and a $17.3 million purchase in August.

In a separate transaction (the report gives no date), Ark bought 65,615 Circle shares valued at approximately $5.2 million. That buy came after Circle stock fell 7.1% in a single session, which pushed shares down to around $79.84. After that purchase, Circle made up about 4.3% of ARKW's total holdings, a position worth roughly $67.8 million, according to Crypto Briefing. Those numbers come from before the latest 35,403-share buy, not after it.

Circle trades on the NYSE under the ticker CRCL and has recently changed hands in the $80 to $82 range.

Trimming the bitcoin side

Around the time of the 65,615-share purchase, Ark also trimmed roughly $15.9 million from its ARKB Bitcoin ETF, Crypto Briefing reported. That came as Bitcoin struggled to hold the $80,000 level.

Crypto Briefing reads the two trades together as a shift toward stablecoins and away from Bitcoin. That's the outlet's analysis, not a strategy Ark has stated.

Why Circle and not the coin

Stablecoins are digital tokens pegged to a traditional currency, and Circle issues USDC (one of the best-known examples). The outlet's argument is simple: Circle's business benefits when more USDC circulates, whether Bitcoin is up or down that week.

In that framing, it's a bet on circulation rather than price.

Circle has reported strong growth in USDC circulation, per the report, though it doesn't give figures. The company has also been working toward a national trust bank charter.
