First mover in Israeli banking
Bank Leumi's partnership with Galaxy Digital marks a significant shift in how Israelis access digital assets. The bank will utilize Galaxy Digital's GalaxyOne Institutional infrastructure to execute its crypto operations, ensuring institutional-grade execution for retail customers.
Three cryptocurrencies will be available on day one. Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana are the initial digital assets customers can purchase through the platform. Additional cryptocurrencies like XRP are expected to be added in the future as the product matures.
Access and execution
Bank Leumi customers will be able to buy, hold, and sell cryptocurrencies directly through the platform. The service integrates with both the bank's main trading interface and its mobile banking arm, PEPPER, making digital assets accessible across multiple channels.
"Being the first bank in Israel to offer digital asset trading directly to its customers, the move has sparked a buzz across the crypto ecosystem."
The trading environment itself has been designed with regulation in mind. The platform will provide customers with a secure and regulated way to access digital assets, addressing a key gap in Israel's financial infrastructure where institutional banking had largely stayed out of the crypto space.
