Binance leaves Hyperliquid HYPE off latest withdrawal reopening list after security event
In brief
- Binance's 9th recovery update reopened withdrawals for dozens of assets across nine networks.
- Hyperliquid's HYPE was left off the list after eight days without withdrawals.
- Binance gave no date for reopening HYPE withdrawals.
- On-chain investigator MLM said on X that none of the HYPE was lost.
What Binance reopened
Withdrawals for more cryptocurrencies were set to begin reopening at 04:00 UTC, according to the update as reported by U.Today. The second round covers BNB Smart Chain, Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum, Optimism, Polygon, Avalanche, Tron and Sui (dozens of assets in all). Binance is restoring services after a recent security event, and the source didn't describe that event any further.
HYPE was left out. U.Today described it as the 11th-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, putting Hyperliquid's market cap at $18.6 billion.
No date has been given for HYPE.
Binance's explanation
Binance said withdrawals are being restored gradually rather than all at once, and that every asset has to pass security and readiness checks before its withdrawals open. The exchange also said withdrawal demand had surged in recent weeks. Deposits are still available. Some users could see delays even on withdrawals that have already reopened, which the announcement put down to demand, technical limits and extra security checks, per U.Today's account.
That's the official reasoning. It doesn't explain why HYPE specifically is still waiting.
Frustration on X
On-chain investigator MLM (@mlmabc) flagged the gap on X, writing that HYPE was the only asset left out and that none of it had been lost:
"Everything except HYPE (none of which was lost)."
That's MLM's claim, and U.Today didn't independently confirm it. Eight days without access to their own holdings has left plenty of users frustrated, and many of them have said so on X.
What does this mean for the token's market? U.Today's own view is that a volatility surge from a single exchange shouldn't disrupt HYPE's market performance, pointing to its market makers and other liquidity sources. That's the publication's read, not a forecast, and Binance hasn't said when HYPE will clear its checks.
