In brief
- Binance will halt trading in 22 tokens for Brazilian residents from Oct. 27, per U.Today.
- Eight products, including Binance Loans, Launchpool and margin trading, face restrictions the same day.
- Delistings apply only to users in Brazil, not Binance customers worldwide.
- Balances in delisted tokens stay in accounts and can still be withdrawn.
- Brazilian customers will move to local Binance group entities from Oct. 29, U.Today reported.
Which tokens are going
The list runs to 22 names. According to U.Today's report, the affected tokens include Verge (XVG), Ethena USDe (USDE), TerraClassicUSD (USTC), Decred (DCR), Dusk (DUSK), PIVX, MANTRA, Harmony (ONE), Ravencoin (RVN), Zilliqa (ZIL) and Secret (SCRT). The other 11 are BB, GMT, TFUEL, ONT, ACX, HIT, PYR, VANRY, VIC, ICX and STORJ.
So what happens to the coins people already hold? After Oct. 27, balances will remain in users' accounts, U.Today reported, and they can still be withdrawn.
Nothing changes for Binance users outside Brazil.
Eight products restricted
Binance is also restricting eight products and services in Brazil from Oct. 27, per the report: Binance Loans, Binance Pool, Cloud Mining, margin trading, Launchpool, Megadrop, HODLer Airdrops and Alpha 2.0. New positions in those products can't be opened, and existing loans will switch to repayment-only status.
Lending, a mining pool, margin trading and airdrop programs (Megadrop and HODLer Airdrops) are all on the list.
Local entities and transfer rules
U.Today also reported that Binance is set to migrate Brazilian customers to local entities created by the company's group, effective Oct. 29.
The restrictions come shortly after Binance introduced further compliance measures for international crypto transfers by Brazilian customers. Starting Nov. 1, according to U.Today, the exchange will ask users to share the purpose of their international transfers and who the counterparties are. International crypto withdrawals won't go through without that information, and incoming transfers might not be completed until the recipient fills out the required verification details.
Three dates matter for Binance users in Brazil: Oct. 27, Oct. 29 and Nov. 1.
