In brief

  • ESMA's Friday MiCA register update added nine crypto-asset service providers, taking the total to 375.
  • BingX's Austrian entity and YouHodler's Italian subsidiary were among the new listings.
  • Santander's Openbank Deutschland and two German cooperative lenders were also added.
  • Penning Financial Services of Denmark no longer appears on the register.
  • The non-compliant provider register rose by five entries to 178.

Who made the list

ESMA's Friday update included BingX's Austrian entity, MEGE zweite, according to Cointelegraph. It also listed the Italian subsidiary of YouHodler (a crypto lending platform offering yield products), which is authorized for custody, crypto exchanges, order execution and transfers.

Neither listing came out of nowhere. Both BingX and YouHodler announced their authorizations the week before, so the register entries followed what the firms had already made public.

BingX EU CEO Daniel Lai said the approval would let the company operate under a clear regulatory framework as it prepares to launch regulated services across the European Economic Area (EEA), according to the company's announcement as cited by Cointelegraph.

Banks join the register

Not every firm in the batch was a crypto exchange.

Spain's Prakma Markets, associated with the Goin crypto app, was also added. Germany's additions included Openbank Deutschland (a subsidiary of Spanish banking group Banco Santander) alongside two cooperative lenders, VR-Bank Alb-Blau-Donau and VR Bank im südlichen Franken.

One exit, flat token registers

Denmark's Penning Financial Services is no longer listed, even though it had appeared in register updates going back to July 3.

ESMA's other MiCA registers didn't move much. The e-money token (EMT) register stayed at 50 entries representing 25 unique entities, Cointelegraph reported, and the asset-referenced token (ART) register is still empty.

The non-compliant list is a different story. ESMA's register of non-compliant crypto-asset service providers rose by five entries to 178, according to the same update.
