Record Monday Reverses Week of Weakness
U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs took in $998.95 million on Monday, according to SoSoValue data cited by Bloomberg Intelligence. The timing stands in sharp contrast to the prior week, when the funds posted their smallest weekly net inflow of their history with just $6.2 million—a stark reversal that underscores the volatility in institutional Bitcoin appetite.
BlackRock's IBIT led the inflow pack with $381.37 million, followed by Ark & 21Shares' ARKB at $289.12 million and Fidelity's FBTC at $238.84 million. Smaller players also participated: Morgan Stanley's MSBT added $61.67 million and Bitwise's BITB received $21.56 million, while VanEck's HODL and Valkyrie's BRRR recorded no inflows.
Profitability Milestone Reached
Bitcoin climbed above an estimated ETF cost basis of $81,722 per coin, putting the average holder of a U.S. spot Bitcoin fund back in profit for the first time since January. At the time, Bitcoin was trading near $85,900, approximately 5% above the ETF cost basis. The milestone matters: it signals renewed confidence among institutions that had accumulated positions at higher average prices earlier in the year.
"Bitcoin's recent recovery toward the $86K–$87K range is being supported by renewed institutional demand, stronger spot ETF inflows and evolving US regulatory developments" — Vikas Gupta, country manager for India at Bybit
Scale and Context
The funds turned over about $4.5 billion on Monday. Cumulative net inflows since launch now stand at $56.16 billion, while the funds hold $110.14 billion, equal to 6.30% of Bitcoin's market capitalization. That concentration underscores how integral these products have become to Bitcoin's price discovery and institutional adoption since their launch.
Worth noting: Monday's flows likely capture Friday's buying rather than Monday's, according to Bloomberg Intelligence analyst Eric Balchunas. Settlement timing means the headline figure reflects the prior trading session's activity, a detail that matters when parsing intra-week momentum.
