Bitmine adds 10,399 ether to treasury, signals strengthening crypto fundamentals
In brief
- Bitmine purchased 10,399 ether last week, bringing total holdings to 5.8M ETH or 4.8% of circulating supply
- Company repurchased 4.5 million shares of common stock during the same period
- Chairman Tom Lee cited July's 2,500 basis point outperformance as evidence of strengthening crypto fundamentals
- Bitmine's total assets reached $11.3 billion as of August 2, including 209 bitcoin holdings
- Company projects $247 million in annualized staking revenue through its MAVAN platform
Treasury and Capital Allocation
Bitmine also repurchased 4.5 million shares of its common stock during the same period, running a dual capital allocation strategy. As of August 2, the company's crypto, cash and marketable securities totaled $11.3 billion. Beyond ether, Bitmine owns 209 bitcoin and maintains significant staking operations.
The company has staked 4.9 million ETH, representing about 85% of its holdings. Through its MAVAN staking platform, Bitmine projects annualized staking revenue of roughly $247 million. This income stream underpins the company's ability to sustain weekly treasury purchases while returning capital to shareholders.
Crypto Fundamentals Signal
Chairman Tom Lee tied the aggressive ether accumulation to recent market signals. "In July, ETH outperformed the Nasdaq 100 by 2,500 basis points. This is the largest outperformance since July 2025, and we believe it is reflective of the strengthening fundamentals of crypto," Lee said in a statement.
The outperformance carries historical weight. In July 2025, ether rallied from about $2,375 to more than $4,000 by the end of the following month after posting similar monthly outperformance against equities. Lee's framing suggests the company views current momentum as a comparable inflection point for blockchain adoption and asset fundamentals.
Shares are down 2.1% premarket as ether dipped over the weekend to $1,842, though the stock's near-term direction remains tied to broader crypto sentiment and Ethereum's performance.
