In brief

  • HYPE declined 24% over the past month amid institutional deposits and weakening technicals
  • Multicoin Capital deposited 137,100 HYPE to Coinbase Prime; Bitwise sent 22,463 HYPE
  • Token lost support at 100-day moving average and trades near $54
  • RSI fell to approximately 34, approaching oversold conditions
  • Next support level sits near $50 at the 200-day moving average

Institutional Activity and Market Sentiment

Persistent institutional selling continues to negatively impact market sentiment, according to recent analysis. Large transfers from major investment firms to centralized exchanges have challenged HYPE's price, with July showing consistent decreases in institutional exposure.

Moving assets onto exchange infrastructure usually indicates an intention to increase liquidity or prepare for distribution, though deposits do not always imply that tokens have been sold. The timing and scale of recent moves—Multicoin and Bitwise both depositing within hours—have drawn attention from traders monitoring whale activity. Still, on-chain transfers alone cannot establish definitive causation for price moves.

Technical Deterioration

HYPE's technical structure has weakened considerably. The token lost a significant support level around its 100-day moving average and was trading close to $54. The next significant long-term support is the 200-day moving average, which is located much lower near $50.

Momentum indicators also reflect stress. HYPE's RSI has fallen to about 34, approaching oversold territory. Compared to the explosive activity observed in May and June, volume has also decreased, and lower trading activity and falling prices frequently signify waning buying conviction.

Oversold conditions do not always indicate the formation of a bottom. HYPE could experience a sharp relief bounce if institutional selling pressure eases, even without a reversal in the underlying trend.

What's Next

HYPE's correction has coincided with ongoing institutional deposits and technical deterioration, though on-chain activity alone cannot establish causation. The crucial technical zone to watch is now the range between $50 and $52. A return to the 50-day moving average around $57 would be the first sign that bulls are taking back control.
