LG CNS launches KITL blockchain platform for stablecoins and tokenized assets
In brief
- LG CNS unveiled KITL on Oct. 6 as shared blockchain infrastructure for financial firms.
- KITL offers wallets, transaction processing, fee sponsorship and transaction history collection.
- KITL supports networks beyond Ethereum, including Solana.
- LG CNS's Securitize MOU targets South Korea's tokenized-asset market, subject to laws and approvals.
What KITL does
KITL ships with four core functions, according to the Oct. 6 announcement: digital wallets, transaction processing, fee sponsorship and transaction history collection. The pitch is reuse. Those functions were designed to carry across business lines such as stablecoins and security tokens.
It isn't Ethereum-only, either. KITL supports other blockchain networks (Solana among them), so financial firms can expand digital-asset operations without rebuilding infrastructure for each network, the company said.
LG CNS also named Circle, Securitize, Chainalysis and Chainlink as partners, connecting technology for stablecoins, tokenization, transaction monitoring and cross-chain interoperability. Those names come from LG CNS's announcement as reported by Crypto Briefing, not from separate statements by the partners.
The Securitize MOU
Securitize and LG CNS are separately expanding their relationship through an MOU focused on South Korea's tokenized-asset market. Under it, the two companies plan to work with Korean and Asia-Pacific financial institutions on tokenized securities, stablecoins and institutional tokenized funds, and to explore products tailored to Korea's regulatory environment.
They'll also examine stablecoin infrastructure, digital-asset treasury solutions and links between Korean and global markets that could eventually support 24/7 distribution, execution and settlement. All of that is subject to applicable laws and approvals.
Those are plans to examine, not completed work.
LG's earlier blockchain work
The initiative extends LG's earlier efforts to apply blockchain technology across its businesses.
KITL isn't the Korean conglomerate's first move on the blockchain. LG once used the technology to sell NFTs through its smart TVs. In June, Fortune reported that LG had partnered with Arbitrum to explore a blockchain-based advertising network, one that would connect advertisers and publishers through a shared ledger for ad inventory and customer engagement data.
After testing that system with a Japanese advertising agency, LG is evaluating a potential market launch later this year, according to the Fortune report as cited by Crypto Briefing.
