NOPAL vault surpasses $100M in AUM, tokenizing Brazilian credit card receivables
In brief
- nOPAL surpassed $100M AUM since October 30, 2025 launch
- Vault tokenizes Brazilian credit card receivables across Plume, Ethereum, BNB Chain, Solana, Avalanche
- Yields 8–12% APY with zero defaults on underlying receivables
- BlackOpal Finance backed by $200M+ institutional capital and 25+ years receivables expertise
- Smart contracts audited by 0xMacro and Spearbit
How the vault works
Brazilian merchants often face cash flow crunches while waiting for credit card payments to settle. To bridge the gap, they sell future receivables at a discount to firms like BlackOpal Finance. The vault then tokenizes these receivables and hedges the currency exposure back to USD, allowing DeFi investors to earn yield on real commercial obligations.
The structure is designed to be bankruptcy-remote, ring-fencing receivables from originating merchants' creditors. This legal framework protects token holders even if an underlying merchant defaults on other obligations. Zero defaults have been recorded across thousands of underlying receivables since launch.
Deployment and institutional backing
The nOPAL vault launched October 30, 2025, and is now spread across Plume mainnet, Ethereum, BNB Chain, Solana, and Avalanche. Total value locked varies by chain, ranging between roughly $25M and $66M on individual deployments.
BlackOpal Finance has over 25 years of experience in the receivables market and more than $200M in institutional backing. The vault's smart contracts were audited by 0xMacro and Spearbit prior to launch.
Recent integrations have expanded access. In August 2026, nOPAL landed on Bybit's RWA Earn platform, and on September 8, 2026, Kamino launched a dedicated lending market for nOPAL on Solana.
Yield and market positioning
The vault generates yields in the 8% to 12% APY range, a material return in a low-rate environment. The yields come from origination fees and interest on underlying receivables, not token emissions. This positions nOPAL in a distinct niche within DeFi, where most yield protocols rely on inflationary tokenomics.
The $100M milestone reflects growing appetite for real-world assets in decentralized finance. It also raises questions about regulatory clarity, custody standards, and systemic risk if similar RWA vaults scale rapidly. For now, nOPAL's track record—zero defaults, institutional backing, and multi-chain distribution—suggests the model can work at scale.
