Nvidia joins Reactor's Series A as world model startup's funding hits $74 million
In brief
- Nvidia and Sapphire Ventures joined Reactor's Lightspeed-led Series A, the company said on October 5, 2026.
- Reactor's total funding rose to $74 million, up from $59 million at its May stealth launch.
- Reactor sells an SDK and API that let companies run world models in their own products.
- Crypto Briefing contrasted Nvidia's stake with AMD's planned $8.2 billion stock acquisition of World Labs.
A round that kept growing
When Reactor came out of stealth on May 28, 2026, its total funding stood at $59 million.
That's a $15 million jump in a little over four months.
Lightspeed Venture Partners originally led the Series A. Nvidia and Sapphire Ventures joined the round later, Crypto Briefing reported, which lifted the cumulative total to $74 million.
What Reactor sells
World models are AI systems that learn from video and other data to simulate dynamic physical environments and interact with them. Reactor sells a developer platform (an SDK and an API) that lets other companies run world models inside their own products.
The company says the platform runs at over 60 frames per second with latency under 40 milliseconds. Those are Reactor's numbers. It credits the performance to three pieces it built in-house: a proprietary inference engine, a global GPU cloud and a streaming layer.
Reactor's going after two customer groups. The first is media and entertainment, meaning Hollywood studios, advertising platforms and streaming services. The second is physical AI and robotics. It also has partnerships with AWS and with world model research labs, including Overworld.
CEO Alberto Taiuti and CTO Bryce Schmidtchen co-founded the company, and both of them served as technical leads on Apple's Vision Pro. The rest of the team comes from Apple, Meta, Google, Netflix, Adobe, Replicate and Microsoft.
Two chipmakers, two bets
The timing stands out. Days before Reactor's announcement, AMD announced plans to acquire World Labs for $8.2 billion in stock, according to Crypto Briefing. The outlet also reported that video AI startup Runway released the first open-weight version of its world model that same week.
Crypto Briefing set the two chipmakers' moves side by side. In the outlet's view, AMD is buying a world model developer outright, while Nvidia is taking a stake in a company built to deliver world models to end users.
