Acquisition Scope and Status
Ondo Finance is evaluating a potential acquisition valued between $250 million and $500 million, according to a person with knowledge of the matter. The company is considering wealthtech targets among other subsectors, though Ondo has not yet appointed any formal advisers.
An Ondo Finance representative declined to confirm acquisition talks, saying the company regularly evaluates market opportunities as part of normal operations.
The Tokenization Opportunity
Ondo Finance issues tokenized U.S. Treasuries and stocks and manages more than $2.5 billion across its products. The firm has raised $24 million in venture funding since its founding, supplemented by a roughly $10 million public ONDO token sale.
Ondo's potential move reflects broader consolidation in crypto infrastructure. Crypto dealmaking has remained strong in 2026 as traditional financial firms and larger digital-asset companies use acquisitions to add licenses, technology, and distribution channels. The sector recorded 89 transactions worth $3.2 billion in the first quarter of 2026, followed by $12.9 billion of disclosed deal value in the second quarter, the second-highest quarterly total on record.
Market Consolidation Accelerates
Payments, stablecoins, custody, tokenization and institutional trading infrastructure have emerged as key acquisition targets. Recent transactions underscore the trend: Keyrock acquired BlockFills' trading and brokerage assets, Kraken purchased Bitnomial for $550 million, and Bullish, the owner of CoinDesk, bought investment platform Equiniti for $4.2 billion.
ONDO token was trading 6% higher over 24 hours at around $0.42 at publication time.
