In brief

  • Pudgy Penguins launches Vibes Series 3 trading cards at Target stores nationwide in largest retail expansion
  • Series 3 includes 15 million circulated cards, original artwork, and Moonbirds collection character appearances
  • NFT holders receive 5% of net revenue from physical products featuring their individual penguins
  • Project's physical toys previously entered 2,000+ Walmart stores in 2023 and sold over 1 million units

From NFTs to mainstream retail

The digital collectible project developed Vibes in partnership with Orange Cap Games, creating a card game that blends blockchain origins with physical retail distribution. The new Vibes Series 3 set includes additional gameplay mechanics, original artwork, and appearances from characters in the Moonbirds collection, expanding the franchise's cross-IP storytelling.

This Target rollout follows Pudgy Penguins' earlier success in physical retail. The project's toys entered more than 2,000 Walmart stores in 2023, with CEO Luca Netz reporting in May 2024 that more than 1 million toys had been sold over the preceding 12 months.

The project's licensing model creates a direct revenue share for NFT holders. Those who own individual penguins receive 5% of net revenue from physical products featuring their characters, aligning community interests with commercial expansion.

Diversifying into games

Beyond trading cards, Pudgy Penguins has been building out a gaming ecosystem. In 2025, the project launched Pengu Clash, a skill-based game on The Open Network. It also launched a mobile game called Pudgy Party in August 2025, which exceeded 1 million downloads according to the project.

The project recently shifted priorities. Pudgy Penguins halted further development of Pudgy Party and focused resources on a browser-based game called Pudgy World, signaling a strategic pivot toward longer-term gaming infrastructure rather than short-term mobile success.
