Pump.fun discontinues Tokenized Agent feature over toxic PvP dynamics
In brief
- Pump.fun deprecated Tokenized Agent after three and a half months, citing toxic PvP dynamics from multiple launch methods
- Tokenized Agent feature enabled creators to deploy AI agents generating revenue via automated buybacks and token burns
- Existing tokens using Tokenized Agent continue operating; only new launches are affected
- Platform frames move as first step in broader streamlining effort
The Feature and Its Run
Pump.fun has pulled the plug on its Tokenized Agent launch option, which operated for roughly three and a half months. The feature launched on March 13, 2026, and was deprecated on June 30, 2026.
The Tokenized Agent mechanism allowed token creators to set up AI agents that would generate revenue and funnel it back into tokens through automated buybacks and burns. Creators could customize the entire setup using a skills.md file, tweaking buyback ratios and burn mechanics to fit their specific tokenomics. Once deployed, the smart contracts powering these agents operated independently of Pump.fun's direct control.
Why It's Going Away
"Too many ways to launch a token was creating toxic player-versus-player dynamics that were hurting everyone involved," Pump.fun said in a statement. The community feedback made clear that having multiple launch options was fragmenting the user base and creating unhealthy competition dynamics.
Pump.fun has framed this deprecation as the first step in a larger effort to streamline the platform. By reducing launch complexity, the launchpad aims to foster more cohesive community dynamics and a simpler user experience.
What Happens Next
Projects that were planning to use this mechanism now need to find alternative approaches for their tokenomics. However, existing tokens already using the Tokenized Agent feature won't be affected. Tokens currently in the bonding curve phase or already live will continue to function normally.
The move signals Pump.fun's willingness to cut features that create friction, even after a relatively short runway. For creators, it means adapting tokenomics strategies to work within the platform's remaining launch options.
