In brief

  • SUI climbed roughly 54% over 30 days, outpacing Bitcoin and Ether, per Crypto Briefing.
  • SUI market cap sat around $4.6 billion, with about 41% of max supply circulating.
  • Sui DeFi TVL rose 15.5% over four weeks despite a 5.2% weekly dip.
  • Sui's 40.6 million TPS record came from an off-chain Basecamp stress test.

Price, supply and the gap to the high

By the start of October, SUI was changing hands at approximately $1.12 to $1.15, the outlet reported. At those levels its market cap sat around $4.6 billion, with roughly 4.1 billion tokens circulating out of a 10 billion maximum supply (about 41%).

That pace left both Bitcoin and Ether behind during a broader market recovery.

The 54% figure needs a caveat. Crypto Briefing doesn't name a data provider, and the trading range it gives for the period doesn't fit a gain that size, so we're attributing the headline number to the outlet rather than restating the range.

The bigger picture is sobering. SUI hit an all-time high of around $5.35 in January 2025, and it's still about 78% below that mark.

DeFi deposits rose, then cooled

Total value locked in Sui's DeFi apps grew 15.5% over the past four weeks, even after a 5.2% decline over the most recent week. Crypto Briefing linked that weekly pullback to SUI's price cooling off. Part of the locked value is denominated in SUI, so the dollar figure moves with the token.

TVL peaked at roughly $1.21 billion on September 22, 2026. NAVI Protocol, a lending platform on the network, helped push it to that high.

What else happened on Sui

The report lists three ecosystem developments from the same stretch. None of them is shown to have caused the rally; they simply happened around the same time.

Bitwise launched its PPLUS Premium+ RWA Vault on Sui, which targets a net yield of more than 10% and is aimed at institutional assets. Sui also posted a record 40.6 million transactions per second in a stress test at its Basecamp conference, held October 7-8. That test was conducted off-chain, so it isn't a measure of how the live network performs.

Samsung announced USDC support for its Galaxy devices, with Sui capabilities integrated into the setup, according to Crypto Briefing's report.

It's a lot of news for one month (and the price has already started to cool).

Frequently asked questions

Why did Sui's DeFi TVL fall in the most recent week?

Crypto Briefing linked the 5.2% weekly decline to SUI's price cooling off. Part of the value locked in Sui's DeFi apps is denominated in SUI, so the dollar figure falls when the token does. TVL was still up 15.5% over four weeks.

Was Sui's 40.6 million TPS record measured on the live network?

No. Sui posted the 40.6 million transactions per second record in a stress test at its Basecamp conference, held October 7-8, and the test was conducted off-chain. It doesn't reflect live-network performance.
