In brief

  • Batch V1.1 reaches 85.71% validator consensus with nine days until mainnet activation on September 29, 2026
  • Amendment enables atomic multi-account transactions in a single ledger close for institutional workflows
  • Batch supports custody transfers, delivery-versus-payment settlement, and cross-border payments

What Batch Does

Batch (XLS-56) allows multiple XRPL transactions from multiple accounts to be executed atomically in a single ledger close. This native capability replaces complex workarounds that previously required external coordination or trust assumptions.

The amendment unlocks a range of settlement patterns. Atomic swaps, coordinated settlements, and multi-party coordination become possible without intermediaries. Developers can now implement programmatic chain patterns—multi-call operations, atomic bundles, and even flash loans—directly on the ledger without deploying smart contracts.

Why Institutions Need It

Batch is required or serves as an accelerant for several high-value XRPL use cases already under contract or in active pipeline. Institutional workflows including custody transfers, DvP (delivery-versus-payment) settlement, and cross-border payment finalization depend on two or more accounts acting simultaneously.

Current XRPL mechanics force sequential execution across multiple ledgers, introducing timing risk and operational friction. Batch eliminates that gap.

Activation Timeline

The XRP Ledger amendment system requires over 80% support for two weeks for a change to pass and apply permanently. Batch V1.1 achieved majority support above 80% on September 15 and is currently fulfilling the consensus requirement at 85.71%.

If support holds, the amendment activates no earlier than September 29, 2026 at 2:06 PM UTC. Validators control the outcome—any drop below 80% resets the clock.
