XRP Ledger Payment Volume Surges 26% to 462.9M XRP
In brief
- XRP Ledger payment volume surged 26% to 462.9 million XRP ($620M+) in 24 hours
- Active users fell 22.4% to 151,500 despite payment volume spike
- Transaction fees rose 8.5% as XRP tests $1.40–$1.45 resistance
- Ledger throughput steady at 20,500 closed ledgers per interval
Payment Volume Climbs, But Adoption Metrics Lag
The volume of XRP payments rose by 26% to roughly 462.9 million XRP in the measured period. That's substantial movement on the ledger. Yet the underlying adoption picture tells a different story. The number of active accounts increased by only 1.3% to 14,500, and active users fell 22.4% to 151,500.
The disconnect matters. A 26% payment surge paired with a 22.4% user decline suggests the increase may stem from fewer participants moving larger amounts rather than broader adoption. The increase in payment volume may be due to larger transactions or concentrated activity rather than proportional growth across the network.
On the positive side, the number of accounts created rose by 8.8% to 2,300, and transaction fees increased by 8.5% to 277.4 XRP, meaning XRP was burned from the system. Ledger throughput itself stayed steady with 20,500 closed ledgers and an average ledger interval of 3.87 seconds, indicating the network handled the load without strain.
Technical Headwinds at Resistance
XRP's price action reveals tension between bullish momentum and technical resistance. After rising from below $1.00 to a peak close to $1.70 during the August breakout, XRP has retreated. The token is currently testing a significant technical cluster after failing to maintain moves above the $1.40–$1.45 area on multiple occasions.
Support levels matter here. A dynamic support level is located close to $1.335, and the long-term moving average is situated around $1.355. Momentum indicators offer little clarity. With a daily RSI of about 51 and a signal average of about 60, XRP is approaching neutral territory, meaning neither bulls nor bears hold clear control.
The payment surge doesn't erase these structural questions. Whether the ledger can convert transaction volume into sustained adoption growth remains the open question.
